Hostel hopping in northern Spain
Hey everybody. Just a quick update to let everyone know what I´ve been up to the past few days. If you saw the last post then you know that we were in Barcelona during the country-wide labor strike but we made it out of there safely. We went to Zaragoza for a day and night and saw the amazing Zaragoza expo. I´ve got some grreat pictures that I can´t wait to upload but I´m on a hostel computer and can´t be here all day. Then we took a bus to Pamplona where the city is famous for the Running of the Bulls that is held in July. My friends and I walked the "Bull path" and saw the Plaza de Toros where the brave runners lead the bulls into the ring. It was really cool to see the streets we walked on postcards in stores around the city. After Pamplona we took another bus to San Sebastian which is known for its great beaches and beautiful views. We enjoyed a walk around some old fortress walls that overlooked the beach and then walked down to the beach where we watched Spanish kids play soccer until the sun went down. We have been staying in little, cheap hostels or apartment buildings along the way and always saving as much money as possible. Right now we are packing up our room and getting ready to check out of our hostel in San Sebastian. We each bought our bus ticket to Santander, another northern Spain beach city, and we will be there for tonight and tomorrow during the day. Hopefully the weather is nice and we can enjoy the sun and sand in an amazing Spanish city that isn´t bustling with tourists during Holy week. After tomorrow we´ll be on our way back to Sevilla and be right in the middle of one of the biggest holiday celebrations in Spain. Semana Santa (Holy week) brings about 1 million tourists to Sevilla to watch the world famous processions. When we get back I will try to upload the pictures from this trip, make room on my memory card for some Semana Santa pictures, then show you guys some of the most amazing religious parades in Europe. I´m sorry about the lack of pictures this time but the next post will be full of smiling faces and great stories to go along with everything. Stay tuned and maybe keep your eyes out for some postcards coming your way soon. Adios!
