Pictures from St. Patricks Day

Like I said in the last post there are a lot of pictures from my weekend in the U.K. So get comfortable and make sure you've got a good chunk of time to get through this post. Here we go.

This is the hostel we ended up at in London. The YHA hostel in central London is great

Dinner for tourists living on a cheap budget
We went to a blues kitchen on our pub crawl in London.
This was our tour bus parked on the ferry on the way to Ireland

Alicia making friends at a bar in Ireland. She wasn't as interested as he was

It was very hard to take Scott seriously while he was wearing his outfit.
The Temple Bar was insanely crowded when we went. We walked through it but couldn't stay long.
On the morning of St. Paddy's Day our tour group got an early start and walked to where the parade would be passing by.

It started to rain a little bit and that didn't make Kelsey too happy.
Soon after the rain stopped the great colors of the St. Paddy's Day parade came dancing down the street
Also these guys came along with the parade. Don't ask me what they were, I have no idea..

Again, I have no idea. I just know that it's a giant rhino in wheelchair, so I took a picture of it.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish marching band made an appearance

The Missouri marching band. When football season is over, traveling to Ireland is next on the list I guess.
These guys were singing and dancing on top of a telephone booth all day.
The Spire is the tallest sculpture in the world standing at around 400 feet tall
We stopped at a bar after the parade and Kelsey made a mess while having a snack.
Kelsey then decided to do a little dancing with some other girls in the bar.

Rebecca was a little tired on the bus ride back to the hotel. St. Paddy's Day took a lot out of all of us.
The next morning we traveled to Glendalough, Ireland which is near the Wicklow Mountains. This area is a great place for amazing views of the Irish countryside.
After seeing the countryside we visited the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. This is where the biggest brewery in Europe is located and we got a full tour of how the "sweet Irish nectar" is made.

Our whole group learned how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness. It takes a full 119.5 seconds for the beer to settle and be served exactly how Arthur Guinness intended.

Obama and the First Lady made a visit to the Guinness Storehouse too.

This is the Gravity Bar at the top of the storehouse. Can you guess what everyone was drinking?

Sunset over the River Liffy in Dublin was amazing.
Our best breakfast from the whole trip was found back in London at the YHA hostel again.
This is a graffiti piece by the "famous" artist, Banksy. He does a lot of social commentary works in London

 Trafalgar Square in London
This was the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace
Our tour guide, Cam, who was great. The tour was free and we learned a lot about the city.
This is the National Gallery with the Olympic countdown clock for the summer games to the left.

The Dublin cops like to enjoy St. Paddy's Day too.

We learned that there used to be a window tax in London back in the day.
Flying back to Spain after a long, long weekend in London and Ireland.
Our tired group back at the Sevilla airport waiting for a cab. We had an amazing trip and I was so glad we could enjoy another great country with a lot of friends. Hope you enjoyed the pictures and this weekend we'll be doing another trip somewhere in Spain. We are still in the planning process but I'm sure we'll do something cool. You'll just have to wait and see. Adios.

  1. Loved all the pictures and the commentary. Looks like you all had a great time and absorbed much of the Irish culture, as evidenced by the way you embraced the "black nectar" and the fashion trend setting green stripe pants!!! Glad you had a great time. Can't wait to catch up.

    Love ya, MOM
